Top 8 Trending Attractions in gay PHUKET 2021

Like most big islands at geographical crossroads, Phuket has a long history and has been enriched by many major cultures: Arabic, Indian Burmese, Chinese, Malay and more. One result of this influx: The food is, generally speaking, spicier in Phuket than elsewhere. Buddhism is dominant of course but there are nearly 40 mosques throughout the island where Muslims live harmoniously alongside other Thais. Be sure to check out a Muslim fishing village, small rural temples, and Phuket Town. Outdoor activities should also be at the top of your to-do list. Major activities include swimming snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing, kayaking, water exploration and even rock climbing in Krabi.

1. Phang Nga Bay

Instantly distinguished by its limestone karsts jutting out of the emerald-green Andaman Sea, Phang Nga Bay is a must-see excursion from any trip to the Thai islands of  Phuket or Krabi. Beach and nature fanatics will be in their element, with caves, lagoons, and secluded beaches all part of the stunning landscape.

The bay’s most famous spots include James Bond Island (named for its role in the filming of the movie The Man With the Golden Gun), the Phi Phi Islands, Hong Island, and  Koh Panyee, all easily accessed by catamarans, speedboats, longtail boats, and Chinese junk boats traversing clear waters enclosed by massive limestone cliffs. Most tours feature opportunities to snorkel, swim, and soak up the sun while eating a fresh lunch on the deck.

2. Chalong Big Buddha

The Chalong Big Buddha is hard to miss. Built on a patch of virgin rain forest high above Phuket, this gigantic Buddha statue is one of the island’s most prominent and revered landmarks, easily seen from most places in the south.

Up close, the marble Big Buddha is an astonishing sight, measuring in at 148 feet (45 meters) tall. It sits atop one of the highest peaks at Khao Nakkerd Hill and as such,  offers incredible 360-degree views of Phuket Town, Chalong Bay and beyond. Another smaller, brass Buddha image also sits on the site, standing at 40 feet (12 meters) and dedicated to the Queen of Thailand. Those who enjoy hiking can book a tour that includes a trek through lush jungle before a visit to the Big Buddha, as well as a trip to Wat Chalong, the largest Buddhist temple in Phuket.

3. Wat Phra Thong

Wat Phra Thong is perhaps not the most impressive of Phuket’s temples, but it surely has the best story behind it. And once you know the story, the ‘half image’ that forms the center of the temple will have way greater resonance.

Wat Phra Thong is in the center of Phuket – its position away from the beaches is what keeps it so quiet! It’s located in Thalang, on the right side of the road as you head to the airport.

4. Phi Phi Islands

From the emerald waters of the Andaman Sea, the jungle-shrouded limestone cliffs of Thailand’s Phi Phi Islands rise majestically, giving way to white-sand beaches and lush green jungles further inland. Longtail boats putter between the islands, surrounded by the turquoise waters and colorful marine life.

Uninhabited Phi Phi Leh, whose beauty was brought to attention when Maya Bay starred in the 2000 film The Beach, is the smaller of the two main islands and boasts coral reefs abundant with tropical fish, making it a popular diving and swimming spot. There are no hotels on Phi Phi Leh, and camping is prohibited, meaning it’s only accessible by day trip.

Phi Phi Don is a thriving hub of activity—by day, a coastal paradise typified by bobbing longtail boats and sparkling white sand; by night, a beating, hedonistic heart with beaches that pulsate with loud music and fire parties. Ao Ton Sai, the island’s principal dock, houses a promenade lined with shops, bars, and restaurants fragrant with the aromas of Thai food. Activities such as snorkeling, rock climbing, Thai boxing, and cooking classes keep travelers entertained throughout their stay on Thailand’s Shangri-La.

5. Racha Island

When people talk of Racha Island, they’re usually referring to Racha Yai, which sits, along with the smaller and uninhabited Racha Noi, around 25 kilometers off the coast of Phuket. Both islands are blessed with white sandy beaches lapped by crystal clear waters, making them popular with divers and snorkelers on day trips. However, Racha Yai is becoming an increasingly popular place to stay a while, offering a variety of accommodation options to choose from.

Racha Island’s main beach, Ao Tawan Tok (also known as Ao Bungalow), is a U-shaped bay consisting of white powdery sand and perfectly turquoise water, not unlike nearby Siam Bay, although the latter is home to a longer and much more peaceful strip of beach. Kon Kare Bay and Ter Bay on the other side of the island offer similarly tantalizing beaches, plus ample opportunities for diving, snorkeling, and fishing trips.

6. Wat Chalong

Wat Chalong is the largest and most visited of Phuket’s temples, with locals, Thai tourists and international visitors flocking to the sacred site daily. Dedicated to two abbots who provided assistance during a rebellion in the 19th century, the temple’s westerly old hall features gold-leaf-covered statues of the men in their honor.

The most important item at Wat Chalong is the 197-foot-tall (60-meter) stupa, or chedi, that is said to shelter a splinter of bone from Buddha. Travelers can marvel over the golden statues found in the stupa and gaze up at the walls and ceilings, each adorned with paintings depicting the life of Buddha. The three-story Wat Chalong also features a large top-floor terrace offering sweeping views of the entire temple grounds, with the Chalong Big Buddha visible in the distance.

Wat Chalong can be visited on most sightseeing tours of Phuket, in addition to some day trips to the island from Krabi. Visitors can also opt for a private sightseeing tour that includes a dedicated local guide.

7. Phuket FantaSea Show Tours

There’s nothing subtle about Phuket FantaSea, a 140-acre (56-hectare) cultural theme park best known for its glitzy Las Vegas-style stage show.

Set in the Palace of the Elephants Theater, the family-friendly Fantasy of a Kingdom performance treats guests to a mythical story that combines traditional Thai dance, music and costumes with colorful special effects, magical illusions, pyrotechnics and dancing elephants. Hundreds of cast members showcase Thai culture on stage and charm the audience with circus acts, acrobatics and magic illusions. Guests can upgrade their experience to also include an international buffet dinner for a full night out.

Outside the theater, the PhantaSea theme park also features an enormous shopping village, multiple restaurants and a dizzying sea-themed arcade of neon lights and cartoon characters. To experience more of the park, travelers can take part in craft demonstrations, pose for photos in traditional Thai garb, ride an elephant or watch one of the vibrant cultural parades.

8. Simon Cabaret Show Tickets

One of the most popular shows in Thailand and certainly the glitziest drag show in Phuket, the Simon Cabaret Show is an evening of glamorous entertainment that wows night after night. A family-friendly show, the performance tends to appeal to a wide range of people of all ages.

Rivaling many Las Vegas shows in terms of sheer size, charm and glitter, the show sees Simon Cabaret’s world-famous ladyboys decked out in dazzling costumes to perform comedy acts and show-stopping song-and-dance routines inspired by Thai culture and traditions. Clever choreography and rapid set changes, plus the sheer energy of the highly skilled transgender and transvestite entertainers, ensure a good night out for everyone, while bright lights, booming sound and elaborate sets all add to the theatrical extravaganza.
